Crystal Lake Epoxy Flooring is an epoxy flooring company based in Crystal Lake, IL, with more than 20 years of experience coating and polishing concrete. We work on two-car garages, finished and unfinished basements, workshops, storefronts, warehouses, plant floors and commercial kitchens across McHenry County and the communities around it.
Our work is built on a simple idea: most floor coatings fail because of what happened before the coating went down, not because of the coating itself. So we spend our time on the parts of the job a customer never sees once the floor is finished, and we put those parts in writing.
Our Approach

Every slab we coat is opened up mechanically with a diamond grinder or shot blaster; we do not acid etch. Moisture testing is a line item in every scope, for garages, basements and shop floors alike, rather than something offered after a floor has already blistered. Before we quote, we read the cracks, joints and any old coating, and we say plainly when a slab needs repair or replacement before it can be coated. On basement jobs we start with where the water is coming from, because a coating is not waterproofing.
Our proposals name the product, the system build and the finished thickness, and they are priced per square foot for the system we are actually proposing, not from a national per-garage figure. We read the warranty exclusions out before the job is sold, with moisture first on the list. Curing is scheduled around slab temperature and dew point instead of the calendar, which means we will sometimes tell you that an unheated garage has to wait for spring. Garage systems are built for the calcium chloride brine and rock salt that local winters bring in on every tire.
We also take the rules seriously. Every home job gets a written contract and the state’s consumer-rights pamphlet before work begins, as the Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act requires. Illinois does not license flooring or coating contractors, so we check each city’s or village’s own registration, bond and insurance requirements before scheduling.
Our coatings are chosen within the Illinois VOC limits, which apply to installers as well as manufacturers, and we do not sell a floor coating as radon reduction, since that work requires a state radon mitigation license. Grinding dust is captured at the tool and never washed toward a drain, and restaurant floors are specified for health department plan review before the permit is issued. For shops, warehouses and kitchens, we schedule around the hours the building has to keep running, including overnight and weekend windows.
What We Do
We install epoxy garage floors, flake and metallic epoxy floors, polyaspartic coatings, basement floor coatings and polished concrete, along with concrete grinding and concrete floor repair. For businesses, we install commercial and industrial epoxy flooring, commercial kitchen flooring and ESD flooring. If you have a floor in mind, or a slab you are not sure about, request a free estimate and we will come look at the concrete before we talk about color.
